SHILLONG: With the spurt in theft cases, the state police have come up with a Help App to assist the affected persons.
The property crime is on the rise and to effectively tackle the menace, the police have come up with the idea.
East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said, “What we want to do is that the people can install the App and in case they notice any burglary or theft, they can send a message through the App and the police will get all the details.”
According to the SP, it is easier for the complainant to inform police through the App without calling on the phone.
“If the person is in such a condition that he cannot make a call after noticing a theft case or he is afraid to talk over phone, the App comes handy as the information can be passed on through it,” he said.
According to the SP, the unique feature of the App is that the police need not ask details over the phone as the App will help to locate the place of occurrence of the crime.
“We can track the place where the crime took place through the App and we started the App to take some measures to deal with the crime against property,” the SP said.
However, a few persons who tried to download the App said the process is long which discourages them to use the App.
The users wanted the police to simplify the process of downloading it.
