Gaurav Gogoi flays ‘strong’ NPP for taking support of BJP

SHILLONG: All India Congress Committee spokesperson, Gaurav Gogoi has taken a dig at the National People’s Party (NPP) for taking the support of BJP and others to form a Government in the state.

Reacting to a query about the statement of NPP that even Rahul Gandhi cannot revive Congress in Meghalaya, Gogoi said, “ If NPP thinks they are so strong then why do they need allies. During the elections they had claimed that they didn’t need BJP support, so if they are so strong, they should reject the BJP support.”

He also said that the NPP despite claiming itself to be a strong party has not been even able to form a Government on its own here

On the other hand,  Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC),  President, Dr Celestine Lyngdoh while taking at dig  the NPP said that nobody could  claim that he was a prophet and the recent loss in by-elections hardly meant the end for Congress.

“We will work hard and we will come back in a big way,” he said while adding that the Congress is not in a rush to work with like-minded parties in Meghalaya

The senior Congress leader and spokesperson, Zenith Sangma pointed out that none of the of political parties in the state had got a clear majority

He also said that the Congress have given a chance to the NPP to form a Government in Meghalaya and to fulfill the big promises which were made by them in during the elections  and now people should see if the NPP can materialize  those promises which were made in the elections.
