Meghalaya Governor presents award to winner of Rotary Sohra Marathon 2018

Governnor hands over the sign on car key to the winner of lucky draw of the marathon Munivson Mylliemngap from Shillong city.

SHILLONG: The Rotary Club of Shillong held a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the Rotary Sohra Marathon which was held on August 25.
President of the Rotary Club of Shillong Kailash Verma said that the marathon created fond memories and long lasting friendships. He informed the gathering that there were about 800 participants from nearly every state in the country and four international participants including two each from Kenya and Ethopia.
“The highest participation was from our home state of Meghalaya with more than 300 runners, next was West Bengal, including Darjeeling with about 120 runners, next was Assam with over 100 runners. Unfortunately, there was no participation from Mizoram and Nagaland. 25 per cent of the runners were females,” Verma said.
The first prize in the open category was awarded to Markyrwat runner Tlanding Wahlang while Ding Moo from Aunachal Pradesh and Adinew Mekonnen from Ethopia were awarded the second and third prizes respectively.
Munivson Dom Mylliengap won the lucky draw and 10-year-old Feredelycia Wann from Saitsohpen Village, Sohra won the second prize.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy congratulated the Rotary Club for organizing the marathon and applauded the participants.
