SHILLONG: The defeat of Congress legislator turned NPP leader MM Danggo has dampened the demand for more civil sub-divisions.
Soon after Danggo resigned from the Congress to join NPP on the issue of creation of a civil sub-division for Ranikor, there were similar demands from other legislators and their supporters for more civil sub-divisions.
After the creation of Ranikor civil sub-division, the chief minister had no other choice but to welcome whoever demanded more civil sub-divisions, sources said.
However, as the creation of Ranikor civil sub-division did not yield the desired result since Danggo was defeated, sources said many politicians are now reluctant to follow up their demands for the creation of more civil sub-divisions.
Moreover, the government is unlikely to fulfil the demands since it is facing financial crunch.
