Chiefs of two nations’ border guards pay homage to martyrs of 1971 war

TURA: To pay homage to the Indian soldiers of the Indo-Pak and subsequent Bangladesh war of Independence in 1971, the chiefs of the two nations border force commemorated the event at Dalu, West Garo Hills on Monday.
The head of BGB, Majir General Shafeenul Islam and other top officials from Bangladesh visited the War Memorial at Killapara.
They paid floral tributes to the Indian soldiers who died defending their territory against advancing Pakistani Intruders.
The Bangladeshi delegation placed floral wreaths and offered prayers before a monument set up at the very spot where they had held off intruding Pakistani soldiers.
The Indian delegation was represented by BSF DIG of Garo Hills sector headquarters, V K Thapliyal, along with commandants and senior BSF officials from the several battalions paid homage by offering floral wreaths and flowers. A colorful guard of honour was given to the visiting dignitaries at the border monument by BSF jawans and the visitors later took part in an interaction.
