TURA: As part of the series programmes being organised by the Department of Arts and Culture across the state, a five day workshop on Crafting of Traditional Musical instruments and Playing Technique was kicked off at Dekachang Community Hall, Resubelpara on Tuesday.
The workshop aims to instill a sense of pride upon the young generation to carry forward the legacy of being able to craft and play the authentic musical instruments and thus preserve the cultural practices of the forefathers.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner, S C Sadhu said that the workshop will be instrumental in ensuring the preservation of culture and imparting knowledge to the young participants about the skills of the traditional musical instruments. He therefore urged the participants to take keen interest in the week long workshop so as to reap positive results.
The workshop is being held from September 18 to 22. The participants will be given hands on training on instruments such as Dama, Dotrong and Chigring.
