Natl Mission on digital marketplace launched

SHILLONG: The National Mission on GeM (Government e-Marketplace) was launched on Wednesday at Yojana Bhavan, Main Secretariat Building. Chief Secretary Y Tsering graced the function as Chief Guest.
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is the National Public Procurement Portal to facilitate online procurement of common goods and services required by various government agencies. GeM aims to enhance transparency, efficiency and speed in public procurement. It provides the tools of e-bidding, reverse e-auction and demand aggregation to facilitate government users achieve the best value for their money.
Addressing the programme, Tsering said GeM will not only make public procurement simpler and transparent but also provide a platform for all startups, SHGs and vendors to promote and sell their products. He called upon the state government departments to sensitise people about the facility.
The function was followed by a training programme on GeM for departmental secretaries and heads of departments. The programme for drawing and disbursing officers/master trainers, including finance personnel and vendors/MSMEs/CSCs, will go on till September 21.
