Victim’s kin want action against culprit

SHILLONG: The relatives of Tyngshain Mukhim (37) have demanded exemplary punishment for the accused involved in his murder.
On September 9, Romesh Thapa of Umsohphoh, Madan Umwang, had assaulted Mukhim following a scuffle in Ri Bhoi.
Following the assault, the victim sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to NEIGRIHMS. On September 11, the victim succumbed to his injuries three days after the assault.
Mukhim’s aunt, Beliora Mukhim said, “He (Mukhim) was a bit drunk and was sitting in the house of the accused. Out of nowhere, he (Thapa) assaulted him for reasons unknown.”
Another relative of the deceased, Bran Shadap claimed that the accused had admitted that he had wrongfully assaulted Mukhim.”
Relatives of the deceased and residents of Raid Nongtung took part in a sit-in demonstration called by the KSU in the city on Wednesday.
