AGARTALA: As part of celebration of the 40 years of Bangladesh Liberation War, the Bangladesh High Commission in India and the Directorate of Film Festival, New Delhi have jointly organised a three-day Bangladesh film festival here from February 10 next, said Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Mehabub Hassan Selah.
Bangladesh War of Liberation in Celluloid would screen as many as six selected films on freedom struggle of Bangladesh followed by separate interaction with the directors of the films who had actively been associated in movement in 1971 before every screening.
Mr Selah maintained that the festival was organised to strengthen the bond between India and Bangladesh, as Indian contribution in Bangladesh Liberation war was the main spirit for the freedom fighters and the then administration in Tripura had extended selfless support and provide shelter to the refugees.
Despite being two independent and sovereign nations, Bangladesh and Tripura have an intimate relations in terms of language, culture and life-style that has prompted us to organise such festival here to pay tribute to the patronisers of Bangladesh Liberation War, he stated.
Besides, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Union minister for state of information and broadcasting Choudhury Mohan Jatua, High Commissioner for Bangladesh to India Tariq A Karim and Bangladeshi film personalities like Tareque Masud, and Nasiruddin Yousuf would remain present in the inaugural ceremony.
