MAWKYRWAT: Three villages in Ranikor C&RD Block have urged the South West Khasi Hills deputy commissioner to exclude them from Mawpud sub-centre under Ranikor CHC because of commucation problems.
Representatives from the villages Nongkynbah, Nongpdeng Kenbah and Sarin, which are not under the new civil sub-division met Isawanda Laloo on Friday.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Myntri of Sarin village Blossding Wanniang said people of these three villages are facing problem when it comes to health like taking medicines, vaccination for children and register birth or death of relatives because they have to walk for more than three hours to reach Mawpud sub-centre.
“We have to walk more than three hours to reach Mawpud because there is no road from our villages and it takes more time to go to Ranikor because of the distance which is more than 50 km.
Therefore, we requested the DC to help solve the problem by including us (the three villages) under Rangthong Primary Health Centre which is less than 15 km and also to open the sub-centre at Nongkynbah village that has been already constructed,” Wanniang said.
Wanniang informed that Laloo has promised that she would soon discuss the matter with the officials of the health department.
