SHILONG: The city police are in no mood to lower their guard even four months after the violence in Motphran fearing instigation by trouble mongers.
East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak told media persons recently that police “are alert since the issue is not resolved” and there is strong deployment of police personnel in sensitive areas.
Though the situation is “under control and almost normal”, Marak said police are not taking any chances.
To a query, the district police chief said notices have been issued based on specific evidence and till date many trouble mongers are being called by the police as investigation into the incident is still on.
The city was thrown out of gear for almost a week after violence erupted following a skirmish at Harijan Colony. Curfew was clamped in the town and the army was called in for conducting flag march in the city.
