Alert RPF personnel rescue 17 children in a week

GUWAHATI: Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway successfully rescued as many as 17 children from railway premises like stations/trains last week, the NFR headquarter here informed. In one of such case on September 18 at about 10.45 am, RPF train escort party of NE Express, while escorting the train from Kamakhya to Guwahati, rescued one minor girl and arrested a kidnapper identified as Majibar Rahman (28) from Beltola (Chariali) police station in Kamrup. On September 20, at about 4.30 pm, RPF Inspector R.K Yadav along with staff of Ledo Outpost in Upper Assam, arrested Hemanta Sarmah (47) of Lekhapani, Tinsukia and rescued three girls, all from Tinsukia. The arrested person confessed that he was taking the girls to Delhi on the promise of giving them jobs. On September 22, at about 9:15 pm, RPF Constable Chunu Hansda of RPF Post, Siliguri Junction rescued three runaway minor girls all from Alipurduar, West Bengal. Subsequently, the rescued minor girls were handed over to Centre Coordinator, Child Line/Hakimpara, and Siliguri for safe custody.
