Railway staff awarded for devotion to duty

GUWAHATI: Six railway staff – Sindhu Deka, Haren Gogoi, Abhi Ram Rai, Kharag Nath Rajbhor, Indrajit Roy and Amit Kumar Das were awarded by Sanjive Roy, General Manager, NF Railway for showing exceptional devotion towards duty.
While on duty at LC gate near Dibrugarh station on August 10, gateman Haren Gogoi stood up against some miscreants who had manhandled him into opening the gate.
On August 11, track maintainer Sindhu Deka showed his alertness and promptness by closing the gate in front of the approaching train after the Station Master had failed to notice the incident.
Abhi Ram Rai and Kharag Nath Rajbhor detected a rail fracture at KM 134/3-2 between Barsoi – Sudhani Up line and immediately protected the track and informed the control room.
On August 18, Indrajit Roy spotted an elephant on the tracks. He managed to stop the train and save the elephant.
Amit Kumar Das, station master of Sudhani station noticed an unusual sound coming from front brake van of an up goods train. He immediately informed the concerned authorities and the train was controlled at Telta station. In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing accidents all of them were presented with a cash award of Rs 2, 500 (Rupees two thousand five hundred only) along with a certificate.
