NONGSTOIN: Three drug abusers have criticised the Civil Hospital here and blamed the doctor who was treating them for discharging them without citing any reason.
The trio told reporters that Dr W Sutnga discharged them at a time when they are facing a crisis and need proper treatment, which is possible only at the civil hospital.
Sutnga later told reporters that that the allegations were false. He explained that there was no proper care for addicts and the best treatment would be at a rehabilitation centre but there was none in Nongstoin. He also said only .5 per cent of such patients are treated at Civil Hospital and the remaining were referred to centres in Shillong.
The doctor also said the hospital staff was suspicious of the youths’ behaviour who would go out during the day and come back in the evening.
It was also reported that patients who sleep in the same ward with the trio were scared about their condition as they did not act normally.
