SHILLONG: Congress MDC from Boldangre Stevie Marak has criticised James Sangma for “washing hands of” the problem at GHADC saying the home minister’s remark in the Assembly was irresponsible.
Marak said if Sangma was unable to extend a helping hand in this issue, his best plan of action would be to resign from whatever posts he was holding and also as a representative of the people.
“Not to put the blame only on James Sangma but the entire EC including the CEM and the chairman (of the GHADC) should resign owing to their incompetence in handling the issue,” he said.
He also alleged that when staff were agitating for their rights, they are being threatened with termination of their services and legal action.
“According to the GHADC employees’ association, when they met Conrad Sangma to apprise him of the situation… he replied that he did not want the headache of the MDCs and the GHADC,” he added.
The MDC said when the Congress was in power in the state, the EC’s excuse was that because of difference in parties at the Centre, in the state and the GHADC, funds were not flowing. Now, NPP is an ally of the NDA governmentand the present EC of the GHADC is also formed by the NPP, “so why are the funds not overflowing”, he said.
