SHILLONG: The KHADC is all set to hold a meeting on Wednesday that aims to “empower traditional chiefs”.
Chief Executive Member HS Shylla told reporters on Monday the election of office bearers to the Council of Traditional Chiefs and Headmen will be in the second session.
“There will be registration at 10.30 am to maintain a register of those who attended. The traditional heads are urged to send letter to Myntri and headmen to inform them about the meeting. The executive committee will seek an explanation from the Syiem if they do not coordinate with the direction of the executive committee,” Shylla said.
The meeting will be held at Students’ Field.
Chiefs, Sirdar, Wahadadar, Lyngdoh, Sordar, Syiem Raid, Sordar Raid and headmen will attend the meeting.
He said the meeting gains importance as it seeks to empower traditional heads. “Through the Council of Traditional Chiefs and Headmen, the grievances of traditional heads can be addressed through the organisation. The organisation can also approach the district council, state government and the central government,” he added.
