Kohima: With the festive season in Nagaland already knocking at the door, the Nagaland Pollution Control Board has counseled caution while using firecrackers during celebrations.
In a statement issued by the NPCB on Monday informed of containing some guidelines laid down by the Government of India to “regulate noise so that people are least disturbed.”
The Noise (Regulation and Control of Pollution) Rule of 2000 does not permit bursting of crackers during the night from 10 pm to 6 am and firecrackers generating noise above 125 decibels banned, it informed.
It said the deputy commissioner of a district, it reminded, was the implementing authority.
“Wide publicity shall be given prior to the event to avoid panic to the people in the vicinity and to maintain congenial environment, prevent annoyance, disturbance and discomfort to the public,” the statement stated. (UNI)
