India beat Afghanistan to book U-19 Asia Cup semis berth

SAVAR: India defeated Afghanistan by 51 runs in a Group A match of the Under-19 Asia Cup to enter the semi-finals here on Tuesday. Opting to bat, India got off to a poor start, as they lost their three wickets at just 14 runs in four overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 92 and Ayush Badoni’s 65 runs knocks helped India to get a fighting score of 221 runs in 45.3 overs. India’s last five wickets contributed only 19 runs. Omarzai returned with figures of 3/46 in his 6.3 overs, while leg-spinner Qais Ahmad picked 3/33 in his 10 overs. While chasing the target, Afghanistan started well as their opening stand scored 56 runs. But, when India brought their spinners, Afghanistan lost four wickets in 28 overs on a score of 99 runs.
