TURA: The Dalu Civil Sub-Division Joint Movement Committee (DCSDJMC) has reiterated that it will not abandon its demand for up-gradation of the block into a civil sub-division as Dalu already has the basic infrastructure to function as a civil sub-division.
“There are many Sub-divisional offices in Dalu like the MeECL Sub-Division, NH Sub-Division, Irrigation Sub-Division, PHE Sub-Division etc and it deserves to be made into a full-fledged Civil Sub-Division. It is also one of the oldest blocks in the state but in spite of that it is still being neglected,” President of the DCSDJMC, Junstemey R Marak said.
Marak said that if the total geographical area of Dalu is taken into account, it has the potential to function even as a district as facilities available here are being utilized by people from other areas.
“People from many areas including Sibbari, Chibok, Ruga, Babelapara, Kerapara and others rely on Dalu market for their daily needs. Other facilities like petrol pump, ATM and even hospital is catering to the needs of people from far flung areas. Dalu is the centre of all business activities to these villages and upgrading it into a civil sub-division will be of great benefit to the people,” Marak reasoned.
Marak added that public figures like former Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma and Late P A Sangma, father of incumbent Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma had studied in Dalu during their childhood.
In spite of all these past backgrounds, Marak said that Dalu is yet to be given due significance and is being ignored by the government.
He urged the MDA Government to take a serious look at the civil sub-division demand of the people and fulfill it less it is compel to resort to agitation.
