Silver jubilee
The Hynniewtrep Welfare Association for people residing, working and studying in Garo Hills, will celebrate its silver jubilee at Burnley Hills, Tura from 6 pm onwards on Saturday. All former members of Hynniewtrep community are urged to attend the programme.

General meeting
The Federation of All Meghalaya Adhoc Secondary Teachers’ Association invited all its members to attend the general body meeting to be held at Dwar Jingkyrmen opposite St. Peter’s School in Dhankheti at 11 am on Saturday.

Gratitude
18 West Block Mahila Congress conveyed its gratitude to all participants and residents of Mawbah locality for their cooperation in cleaning drive which was held on Monday. The Mahila Congress also thanked the Mawbah Dorbar Shnong, Shillong Municipal Board and local MLA Mohendro Rapsang.

MUPSTA meet
The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA) Ri Bhoi District Unit, will hold its general meeting at Nepali U.P. School, Nongpoh at 10.30 am on Saturday. The meeting will discuss various matters on how to strengthen the functioning of the association in the District-level. The association has urged all the teachers falling in the banner of the MUPSTA who is under the jurisdiction of the District to attend the meeting without fail.

Farmers’ market
NESFAS will organise the Mei-Ramew Farmers’ Market at its headquarters in Laitumkhrah, Shillong on Friday. The market will showcase produce from shifting cultivation, wild edible plants and kitchen garden, brought by two partner communities from Ri-Bhoi and West Khasi Hills Districts, which will also be available for sale.

Local body formed
With an aim to look after the welfare and work for the people of Garo Hills, a new body, the Garo Hills Progressive Trust was recently formed. The new association elected Andy Varun M Sangma as president, Huinsangh M Sangma as vice president, Tengrik T Sangma as general secretary besides other members.

Gandhi Jayanti
The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in collaboration with Kharang Sports & Social Welfare Club celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Kharang village which is under the Mawkynrew C&RD Block East Khasi Hills district.

Event postponed
It has been informed to all the members of the Youth Hostels Association of India, Meghalaya branch that the Triennial State Council Election of the YHAI Meghalaya State Branch (2018-2021) which was to be held on October 6 has been deferred until further notice due to the clarification and instruction which is yet to be received from the NEC of YHAI, New Delhi office.
