SHILLONG: Five MDCs from People’s Democratic Forum (PDF) have decided to extend their support to the Executive Committee (EC) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) led by NPP MDC, HS Shylla.
The MDCs are Parliamentary Party (PP) leader of PDF, James Ban Basaiawmoit, Banteidor Lyngdoh, Hadrian Lyngdoh, Morningstar Mawsor, Arbinus Lyngdoh.
The EC of KHADC is supported by six UDP MDCs, 8 PDF MDCs, 4 MDCs each from HSPDP and NPP, 4 Congress MDCs and 1 Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) MDC which comes to a total of 27.
The opposition in the KHADC is reduced to only two MDCs- former CEM PN Syiem and Grace Mary Kharpuri.
Prior to the support given by the five MDCs, three PDF MDCs had already given their support to the KHDA. They were Latiplang Kharkongor, James Sylliang and Blanding Warjri.
Commenting on the new development, Shylla said,“We welcome anyone who comes and give their support to the EC and we will welcome Pynshngain N Syiem and Grace Kharpuri if they come forward to support.”
