SHILLONG: The state government is keen to promote tourism through Ayush.
Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek, during his recent visit to Kerala, discussed the prospects of Ayush in tourism promotion with the government there.
Hek recently told reporters that the Meghalaya government would like to take up Ayush treatment in a big way like Kerala and the idea would also attract tourists.
He added that the state has a vision of promoting Ayush by way of developing hospitals and clinics of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.
Reacting to a query, Hek said many people in the state have now started going to Ayush clinics, “which is a positive indication”.
It may be mentioned that even the Centre is trying to promote Ayush in a big way which is expected to attract foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, during his visit to Kerala, Hek also met Union Minister of State for Tourism KJ Alphons and they discussed the idea of organising a Megha fest in the southern state to promote tourism.
