SHILLONG: The state government is yet to give nod to the appointment of a regular DGP and Meghalaya Lokayukta.
An official source said on Friday that since Home Minister James Sangma is out of station, the file related to the appointment of a regular DGP has not been approved.
Earlier, RP Agarwal, who is also handling Prisons Department, was appointed as the temporary DGP.
The UPSC had cleared the names of Agarwal and two other police officers from Assam for the appointment of a regular DGP.
The source added that as far as the Meghalaya Lokayukta is concerned, though the chairman has been appointed, the government is consulting legal experts and the Law Department whether the Lokayukta can function without the members.
A chairperson and four members constitute the Meghalaya Lokayukta.
