GUWAHATI : For those who could not avail online tickets priced up to Rs 2500 for the one-day international cricket match between India and West Indies here on October 21, there might just be a second chance.

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) on Saturday said that if some of the almost 10,000 tickets meant for the 33 state units and eight playing zones are returned, they would be put up for online sale.

It may be mentioned that all tickets priced between Rs 500 (students) and Rs 2500 that were up for online sale from noon on October 11, were sold in just a matter of few hours.

As on Saturday evening. only a portion of the tickets priced at Rs 4000, Rs 4500, Rs 5000 and Rs 10,000 remained for purchase through the Book my Show portal.

ACA secretary Pradip Buragohain confirmed that former India captain, Sourav Ganguly would be present at the venue as guest of honour. “Sourav Ganguly will arrive here on the morning of the match day, stay in a city hotel before proceeding to the venue. He will return in the evening itself, ” Buragohain said.

The ACA will also sell 33 corporate boxes, 24 at the South stand and nine at the North stand. The price of each box of the South stand would be Rs 5.5 lakh while for the North stand, it is Rs 6.5 lakh.

The ACA stadium at Barsapara has 36,495 seats. According to the new BCCI constitution, 90 per cent tickets of the total capacity of the stadium should be put on public sale.

Both the teams will arrive in Guwahati on October 17 to play the first match of the five-match ODI series.

Security has been beefed up for the match with both police and district administration taking extra caution as the match takes place just two days after the Durga Puja celebration.
