NONGSTOIN: The Health Care Foundation, Mairang Mission in collaboration with Health Care Society of Assam, Guwahati Chapter, on Saturday organised a free health and heart check-up camp in Mairang. More than 100 people were benefited by the camp which provided free services like ECG, blood sugar, blood pressure monitoring and doctors’ interaction with patients. Medicines worth Rs 5 lakh were also distributed.
The camp was organised in view of increasing number of heart-related deaths. The camp will prove beneficial to poor patients who cannot afford treatment in hospitals.
Consultation was provided to all registered patients with intention to motivate people to eat healthy and live well.
The health camp was held at Mairang Indoor Stadium where doctors from GNRC and Health Care Society, Assam including Dr Bikash Rai Das, Hearth Specialist, Dr Arindam Den, Physiotherapy, Dr Uday Bora, medicine, Dr PBaishya ENT attended the programmed in the presence of J Marbaniang, HCF president, secretary KL Mawlong, OC Mairang PS P Syiem among others.
Das who was the chief resource person of the programme said the main objective of the camp was to generate awareness about heart problems and their prevention among the common people.
He also stressed about ways to prevent heart diseases and stroke by adopting a heart-healthy living starting from childhood throughout adulthood, adding “Hypertension is a silent killer that can be managed through astute medication and lifestyle changes.”
