SHILLONG: One of the most loved festival of Meghalaya – The Shillong Autumn Festival is set to return after a period of five years but with different organisers. The festival will be held on October 26th and 27that the Water Sports Complex, Orchid Resort in Umiam.

Alethea Lyngwa, one of the members of Opus Productions which is organising the festival on Saturday told media persons that they were keen to maintain the standards of the festival.

The new organisers are also confident that their vision to make the festival “big” in the years to come will fructify for sure.

The festival started in the year 2006 with an aim to attract tourists and soon the festival was a hit among one and all.

We have taken the initiative to bring back the festival to the people and to give tourists another reason to visit the state during this festive period,” the organisers added.

It may be mentioned that the festival was earlier organised by Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum and the last time it was organized was in 2012.

Alethea Lyngwa said that they would ensure that the festival remained a family-oriented event, adding the highlights of the festival will be music and entertainment with a kids’ zone, traditional food items, and water sports featuring at the picturesque resort.

Andreas War, another member of Opus Productions, said the festival would mostly highlight local bands.

Musical bands like Avora Records, which won in the Hornbill Festival, Blue Temptation, Black Jack, Wavelength, Roots Reggae Band, Colours, Emperical Tribe, Different Matters, Ribor Mb Productions, and DJs will be performing at the event.
