HLC on Sweepers’ Colony not sitting idle: Prestone Tynsong

SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of the High Level Committee (HLC) on relocation of Sweepers’ Colony, Prestone Tynsong on Monday said that the committee would very shortly call for a meeting.

Talking to media persons, Tynsong said that the state government shared the same concerns as the pressure groups on the Sweepers’ Colony issue and intended to complete its recommendation at the earliest.

Stating that the committee was not sleeping or sitting idle but working on it to complete its work at the earliest, he informed that that the inspection was almost done and committee was ready for a sitting

“We are awaiting the papers that is to be submitted. He said that the Chief Executive Officer of the Municipal Board will furnish all the papers to the member secretary of the HLC and the committee will sit to discuss it.

He also reiterated that the Government is taking this issue very seriously and he as a Chairperson of the HLC is more than keen to give its final recommendation to the government.

The high-level committee (HLC) which has been constituted to find out a permanent solution to the issue of relocating residents of Punjabi Lane (Them Iew Mawlong),  had earlier had asked the Directorate of Land Records and Survey to immediately conduct an exhaustive land survey of the colony at Them Iew Mawlong.
