Editor,
With regards to the advertisement for the application for the Unarmed Branch Sub-Inspector of Police (UBSI), Meghalaya Police, for which the final date for submission of application is nearing, necessary documents and certificates are required to be submitted along with the standard form as per the advertisement. What surprised the applicants when they went to submit their application forms was that the person who received the applications insisted that we should produce the admit cards of all examinations to the three year Bachelor’s Degree examination and also for all the four years of the Professional Degree courses. Such documents were never insisted upon for any particular exam be it the central services or the UPSC. Mark sheets and certificates are good enough to certify the candidate’s eligibility to any post as being done all over India.
The question that arises is why the admit cards of all the three years of the Bachelor’s Degree are required to be submitted and what role do they play in the selection to the said post when mark sheets and certificates good enough? Or does this imply that the colleges and universities that the applicants passed out from, including NEHU are not to be trusted? I would request the concerned authorities to clarify and help us understand the commonsense in this matter. Or is this another way of filtering out the eligible and deserving candidates to make way for the black-sheep that enter through the back door?
Yours etc,
