SHILLONG: The recent aggression of China to rage war against Tibet has aroused serious concerns among the Tibetans residing in India. Expressing solidarity for their Tibetans brothers in Tibet, the Tibetans residing in the capital city under the banner of Regional Tibetan Youth Congress and the Regional Tibetan Women’s Association held a ‘peace rally’ on Tuesday.
The rally which started from Quniton road and culminated at Fire Brigade, Laitumkhrah was attended by around 100 Tibetans. Displaying various placards and banners which says ‘China to prepare war against Tibet. It is not a war, it is Genocide’, the Tibetans marched on the streets of Shillong asking the people to help them to bring a stop to it before it’s too late.
Talking to reporters on the sideline of the rally, Regional Tibetan Youth Congress general secretary Wangchul Lhamu said this rally is mainly to express solidarity with Tibetans residing in Tibet who do not have fundamental rights and also in objection of the Chinese possible war on Tibet. “Dalai Lama is a peace loving person and they don’t see any reason for China to rage war against Tibet”, Lhamu stated.
The Tibetans have been fighting for the prevalence of Human Rights for almost half a century and yet, no international community besides paying lip service has ever come upfront to actually put pressure on the Chinese government..
The Tibetans residing in the city have condemned the Chinese blatant statement stating that this statement about waging a possible war on the Tibetans in Tibet who may engage in opposing the Chinese regime shows to the world what kind of rights the Tibetans possess in their own country.
“They have no fundamental rights out there in Tibet and we are very much concerned with this issue, that’s why we have decided to hold this silent procession”, Lhamu said.
