JOWAI: The All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation, East Jaintia Hills zone, has condemned the JHADC for its failure to check illegal trading in the district which has not only affected the local traders but also the revenue of the council.
According to the AJYWO, several non-tribals are doing business in the district without trading licence and non-tribal shops never display their licenses which is against the trading Act of the JHADC.
“When all wine stores and pharmacies display their licences in their respective shops, why non-tribal shops have failed to do so. This is due to negligence by the staff of the Taxation Department of the JHADC,” said a leader of the East Zone AJYWO, Heater Rngkhlem.
The organisation has demanded the CEM of JHADC to look into the matter seriously to avoid leakage of revenue.
