SHILLONG: Despite several campaigns by the police department, reports of people falling prey to fraudulent calls still continue.
Ram Narain Rai (38) lodged a complaint that on October 26, he received a call from one lady who identified herself as Nitya Sharma of Samsung Mobile Company offering him a Samsung J7 mobile set for Rs 4,000.
Later, he received a call that the mobile has reached to his nearest post office. However, when he collected the parcel, he found that it contained a purse and a belt.
In another complaint lodged by Jugamaya Gogoi on October 25, the complainant said Rs 50,000 was debited from her SBI account following an anonymous call who asked about her ATM card details and OTP.
The police have urged the general public not to share their bank details.
