SHILLONG: The state government on Monday approved a policy for setting up weighbridges.
Informing this after the Cabinet meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said currently any individual can set up weighbridges and offer it to the government and sees whether it is feasible.
“In addition, there was no thrust area as to where multiple weighbridges are required,” Tynsong said.
Now with this policy, the government is hoping to regulate setting up of weighbridges.
The policy that will be notified shortly is expected to address the issue of loss of revenue from the weighbridges.
At present, there are 16 government-owned weighbridges.
