SHILLONG: After the KHADC passed the ILP resolution, the Association for Democracy and Empowerment (ADE) has urged the GHADC CEM, Dipul Marak to implement a mechanism like ILP to control influx.
In a memorandum submitted to the CEM on Wednesday, the ADE said the recent development in the form of National Registration of Citizens in the neighboring state of Assam, has aggravated the already deplorable condition of influx in the bordering areas of Meghalaya.
“ We believe that it may lead to demographical imbalance in the region if the people from Assam who were not able to include their names in the NRC of Assam somehow try to infiltrate into the bordering areas”, the ADE said .
