Inter-school sports meet at Royal Global School

GUWAHATI: Royal Global School will be organising the 5th Royal Global School Invitational Inter School Sports Meet here from November 22 to 25.

The largest inter-school sports meet of the Northeast is expected to attract more than 1,200 players, 100 officials and around 400 guests from across the state.

The champion school of the meet will receive cash award of Rs 30,000 besides the champion’s trophy while winners in all different events will receive individual trophies and certificates.

The Inter School Sports Meet was first introduced in the year 2013.

“The idea of this Inter School Sports Meet was to promote sports among schools in the region and also to provide exposure to the young talents of different schools. The meet will not only give an opportunity to the young players to showcase their talent but also to provide a platform to interact and hone their sporting skills,” a statement issued here said.

The sports meet began in the first year with four disciplines – tennis, basketball, badminton and table tennis with the idea of including two additional disciplines every year.

This year, competitions will be held across 11 disciplines namely, tennis, basketball, badminton, table tennis, football, taekwondo, squash, pool, cricket and skating.
