SHILLONG: Independent legislator from Nongkrem Lambor Malngiang on Friday hinted that he would contest the upcoming council elections.
Talking to media persons, Malngiang said the final decision on this matter will be taken only after consultation with his supporters during a meeting to be convened soon.
“Whether I will contest or field a candidate will be clear after the meeting,” added the MLA who is also the chairman of the State Planning Board. He also informed that his priority at the moment is to ensure development in his constituency.
Nongkrem is presently represented by KHADC chief and NPP MDC HS Shylla who got re-elected during the 2016 by-elections after former Nongkrem MLA Ardent M Basaiawmoit resigned as member of the district council following the passing of the dual posts act in the state.
