Hek for bringing traditional healers under organised sector

SHILLONG: Health Minister AL Hek stressed the need of bringing traditional healers under the organised sector.
Hek said this during a programme commemorating the 3rd National Ayurveda Day held at Asian Confluence in the city on Monday.
He also spoke about the importance and benefits of ayurveda in day to day life.
“In order to promote and strengthen the traditional system of healing in the State, there is a need to bring the traditional healers under the organised sector,” he said. The programme was organised by the Directorate of AYUSH, Government of Meghalaya and centered on the theme ‘Ayurveda for Public Health’.
Anil Jauhri, CEO, National Board for Accreditation for Certification Bodies (NABCB), Pravin Bakshi, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare cum Director of AYUSH, TS Nongkhaw, Director Health Services, MI, DK Raswai, State Nodal Officer of AYUSH and S Pala, Ayurvedic Physician, Shillong Civil Hospital, Shillong were also present.
The programme was followed by a series of sessions on various topics regarding ayurveda which were presented by Debjani Roy, Advisor, Quality Council of India, BP Sarma, Prof and HOD of Kayachikitsa, Government Ayurvedic College, Guwahati and Shantanu Kr. Sanjay, Medical Officer (AYUR), Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam.
