SHILLONG: Two youths drowned in a river in Sohra on Sunday evening.
SP City Steve Rynjah said Vivek Dhar and Harsh Mohta, both 25, died around 4pm at Janailar in Mawkma under Sohra police station.
Mohta was a resident of Kolkata and Dhar was from Oakland in the city.
Mohta had taken a plunge into the water from a 10-foot cliff and he was seen struggling to swim. So Dhar ran off the cliff to save him but both drowned.
The duo was part of a group of five friends who had driven to Sohra.
