SHILLONG: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) CEM HS Shylla on Tuesday asserted that the government led by Conrad Sangma should give its approval to ILP and lineage bills.
The two bills, KHAD (Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (First Amendment), Bill, 2018 and KHAD (Inner Line as adapted from the Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873) Regulation Bill, 2018 were passed recently by the KHADC.
“The government of Conrad should give its approval to the Bills and if the government does not do so, the public will even be ready for bloodshed,” he said while speaking at a meeting at Iewduh where he sought public support for the two bills.
He pointed out that 75 per cent of Khasi women are married to non-tribals and alleged that the women would only protect the non-tribal men claiming them to be their husbands.
