Photography, essay competitions on traffic awareness

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills District Traffic Branch in collaboration with Meghalaya Legal Service Association and Radio Mirchi will organise a Traffic Week Awareness Programme from November 19 to 23.
The events will include a photography competition, among other activities, on the topic ‘Why Jam in Shillong’.
The competition is open to all and interested candidates above the 15 years of age can submit their original photographs taken within the district only in JPEG file in a pen drive, DVD/CD at the office of the SDPO Pynursla, Camp-Police Reserve Shillong before November 17.
The traffic branch will also conduct an essay competition on the topic ‘Good Traffic Etiquette: A solution for reducing traffic congestion in Shillong’ at Vivekananda Ramakrishna Mission at 11.30 am on November 19. All schools, colleges and other organisations can send the names of their representatives to the office of the SDPO Pynursla directly or through the ICs of any Traffic Branch in Shillong by November 16.
The participants can also contact the SDPO Pynursla on 8794730299 for any queries from 10 am to 5 pm and must refer to the rules and regulations of the competition before submitting their photographs or before entering the essay competition mentioned in the East Khasi Hills Police website or in any of the traffic branches.
The winners of both the competitions will be featured in the ‘Radio Mirchi Traffic Jockey’ and will be awarded prizes and certificates.
