SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is abroad, called up John Kharshiing, brother of Agnes Kharshiing to inquire about her health condition.
Agnes is still in critical condition at NEIGRIHMS and she has not been shifted from ventilator.
John said Conrad had called up from the overseas to inquire about his sister’s health condition and assured all assistance.
According to John, though the chief minister assured assistance to shift Agnes for better medical treatment, the family has faith in NEIGRIHMS doctors.
Congress unhappy
Opposition Chief Whip and Congress legislator PT Sawkmie said MDA government has to admit that it has failed to control illegal coal mining in the state.
In a statement, Sawkmie said the state government failed to address the issue seriously.
“If we recall, a youth leader from Jowai was murdered and Agnes Kharshiing was brutally beaten up by the members of coal mafia”, Sawkmie said.
According to Sawkmie, since the government has failed to control the situation, “the government should surrender the matter to central agency for not being able to handle the case”.
