NONGPOH: In a failed attempt of robbery, an ATM machine of the Punjab National Bank, Nongpoh Branch, was partially destroyed by miscreants on the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to Branch Manager Ranjana Bhuyan, records from the CCTV camera show that a group of five persons with their faces fully covered tried to rob the cash in the ATM machine around 3 am.
The miscreants, who came in a white car, shattered the lock of the ATM room. They also used a black plastic to cover the CCTV camera installed inside the ATM room and then cut the cables of the ATM machine.
However, five minutes after trying to open the cash tray, the alarm went off which scared the miscreants as they fled the spot afraid of being caught.
In this connection, an FIR was filed by the bank at Nongpoh Police Station and police is trying to find those involved as per records shown in the CCTV camera.
