TURA: A-30-year-old man from Dalu has been arrested by the West Garo Hills Police for harassing a woman through a fake Facebook profile.
The accused Santosh Roy, a resident of Dalu was arrested on Wednesday. Police had been on the lookout for the accused after the victim filed an FIR as early as July 11 last year. According to the FIR, Roy by creating a fake facebook profile under the name of Rahul Singh has been harassing the victim by sending obscene images, videos and messages to her facebook messenger.
A case was filed in this connection with the Tura Women’s Police Station and on Wednesday, with the help of the Cyber Crime Branch, the accused was finally tracked down and arrested from Dalu.
A mobile phone used for creating the fake Facebook profile was seized by police and further investigation is on.
