SHILLONG: Hosts Meghalaya require another 160 runs to win with two days and six wickets left in the U-23 Col. CK Nayudu Trophy match being played at the SCA ground in Polo.
The day started and ended with Meghalaya batting, as 18 wickets fell in all.
The hosts started the day on 125/6 in their first innings. A 65-run partnership between Tiwari (32) and Rohit Shah (35) as well as smaller contributions lower down the order took Meghalaya to 178, a lead of five runs.
A fantastic fifth wicket partnership between Vinayak (108) and Arvind Verma (51) saw the visitors reaching 216 before losing all wickets.
Verma’s wicket led to a batting collapse with Nagaland losing their last six wickets for just 10 runs.
Meghalaya skipper Kumar and Arbin claimed all 10 wickets.
Chasing 212 for victory, Meghalaya were shaky and lost four wickets with 52 runs on the board. The hosts will now rely on their remaining batsmen to steer the team home in what will be a challenging chase.
