Shillong: Arunachal Pradesh trail Meghalaya by 90 runs at the end of the first day of the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy North East Zone match in Mangaldai, Assam, on Sunday. This is the last match for Meghalaya, who have already secured a place in the next round after securing 25 points from four games. Put in to bat after losing the toss, batting proved a problem for Meghalaya, who were reduced to 47/6 at one point. However, a much-needed partnership between Prince Maurya and Sudhir Sahani doubled the score before captain Sahani fell for 31. Maurya went on to finish unbeaten on 50 as Meghalaya were bowled out for 137. Arunachal also struggled with the bat, with almost every Meghalaya bowler being among the wickets. Arunachal ended the day on 47/8. Nirdesh Baisoya took 3/6, while Maurya picked up 2/13. There was also a wicket for Sahani (1/6), Waldo Sangma (1/6) and Gavineal Marpna (1/7).
