Guwahati Theatre Fest concludes

GUWAHATI: The curtain came down on the 3rd Guwahati Theatre Festival with two plays – Foreign Body and Stories in a Song staged at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre here on Sunday.
Foreign Body, is a beautifully crafted solo show by Imogen Butler-Cole from London about hope, healing and forgiveness after sexual assault while Stories in a Song, a musical collage of theatre, literature and history, is directed by Sunil Shanbag.
The three-day festival also had plays such as Laughter Therapy featuring Mona Singh, Siddharth Merchant, Danesh Khambata, Danesh Irani, Sajeel Parakh, and Detective 9-2-11 featuring actors like Neil Bhoopalam and Sukant Goyel among others, informs a statement issued here on Monday.
The Life in the Theatre Award 2018 was posthumously conferred on Sukracharjya Rabha who was on a mission to produce and direct theatre that was truly rooted in local culture, and founded Badungduppa, his own unique theatre group in 1998.
He was conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi’sUstad Bismillah Khan Yuva Award (2009) for theatre direction, the Aditya Bikram Birla Kala Kiran Puraskar (2010) from Sangeet Kala Kendra, Mumbai, the Pratima Barua Pandey Award (2010) by All Assam Students’ Union and many more.
Manas Rabha, who is closely associated with Badungduppa Kalakendra, collected the award on his behalf.
The third edition of the theatre fest also witnessed theatre workshops conducted by Namit Das and Atul Kumar for schools and college students respectively which were supported by North Eastern Council and Numaligarh Refinery Limited.
