SHILLONG: KHADC chief executive member HS Shylla has accused his predecessor PN Syiem of attempting to topple his Executive Committee.
“Some of the MDCs receive calls from Pynshngain intending to topple the EC. The MDCs informed me that he called them,” Shylla told The Shillong Times on Monday.
A few MDCs who refused to be named said Syiem called some of the independent members of the council and some from other parties to seek support for toppling the Executive Committee led by Shylla.
Shylla said the MDCs refused to be party to his toppling plan and oozed confidence that the KHADC Executive Committee “is still very strong”.
Resolution on disputed areas
Shylla said the KHADC will table resolution demanding restoration of disputed areas of Block I and Block II and another resolution to insert the word “United” in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council during the three-day session beginning Tuesday.
The council chief said it will also introduce the Bills of Himas (codification) which is about 7-8 of them.
“One of them is that of Hima Khyrim, which means Hima Khyrim will have a separate codification Act and that is a great achievement,” he said, adding that the Khasi clan bill will be introduced on Tuesday.
