Student among 3 injured in accidents

SHILLONG/NONGPOH: In a case of hit and run, a class XI student was grievously injured at NH-6, Ri Bhoi on Tuesday.
The student identified as Rani Rongpeit studying at Alpha English Higher Secondary School, was on her to school for appearing examination however, a speeding sumo hit her while she was trying to cross the road.
The over-speeding sumo with registration number MZ01 J9094 was coming from Shillong.
The driver was trying to flee but was caught with the help of the locals and the police. The driver along with his vehicle was later arrested and brought to Nongpoh Police Station for interrogation. The girl was rushed to Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh and was later shifted to NEIGRIHMS.
A truck over turned and fell at Umjarain around 3:23 pm on Monday. As a result, two persons namely Slanding Kharwar (50) and Robilang Kharwar (40) sustained multiple injuries and were shifted to Mawkyrwat CHC by 108 service.
Electrocution injury
31-year-old Raja Sarki, a Wifi network Engineer, was injured when the ladder he was carrying touch an electric wire next to the transformer near Treasury Office, Jowai around 2:55 pm on Tuesday. He suffered minor injuries with dizziness and abdominal pain. The victim was shifted to Ialong Civil Hospital by 108 Khliehtyrshi Ambulance.
