SHILLONG: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will meet on Wednesday to discuss its agenda and strategy for the upcoming special Assembly session on November 27.
The special session is being called to modify the resolution passed by the House earlier this year for inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule.
Congress spokesperson HM Shangpliang said the CLP will discuss about issues pertaining to law and order and coal mining, which are likely to be taken up during the House session.
CLP will also discuss the recent attack on CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing and her colleague and it will be discussed if the matter should be taken up in the House. There is demand from several quarters for an independent inquiry into the assault of the activists as there were allegations of nexus between coal mafia and police.
When asked why despite the allegations, the government is reposing faith in police, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Tuesday that conclusion cannot be drawn from allegations and the state agency should be allowed to do its job first.
