Mizoram turns 25 today

Aizawl: Mizoram turned 25 on Monday with the picturesque state befittingly celebrating its 25th Statehood Day across the state.

In commemoration of the celebration, the Assam Rifles on Monday organized a voluntary blood donation camp at the unit hospital of the 26 Assam Rifles. The camp was inaugurated by Mizoram Governor Vakkom Purushothaman.

The Governor appreciated the Assam Rifles for their ‘service to humanity’ through this noble cause and expressed hope that this camp will further motivate and inspire more and more people from all sections of the society to come forward and contribute towards this noble cause.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that conducting a blood donation camp is an ideal way to commemorate the day.

Appreciating the contribution of the Assam Rifles towards the society, he further added that the Mizoram Range, Assam Rifles has kept a silent watch over the events in the state since its inception and has always lent a helping hand whenever needed.

In another event commemorating the celebration of the Statehood Day, the Governor of Mizoram also ‘flagged-in’ the cycle expedition, which was organized by 40 Assam Rifles.

The cycle expedition had started on February 14 from Parva in Lawngtlai district and terminated at Aizawl on Monday.

Significantly, the 25 year-old state of Mizoram is now poised for further development so as to affect the economic life of the people in a substantial manner and to this end, the state government is making tireless efforts on all sides.

Not withstanding to the fact, with the ushering of peace in Mizoram on June 30, 1986, the atmosphere is now fully conductive to bringing about development on all fronts so as to enable the people to live a better and a more meaningful life in tune with the rest of the country and most importantly, to take pride in being one of the advanced states of the country.
