SHILLONG: Deputy Commission of East Khasi Hills has shot off letter to the District School Education Officer, to withhold the annual examination results of those students who refused to take Measles Rubella Vaccination (MRV).

When contacted to confirm the report, the DC, PS Dkhar said, “It is correct. Their result will be withheld till such time the parents justify why the children did not come for the Rubella-Measles campaign.”

Meanwhile, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) central body has expressed strong opposition to the move of the district administration.

Stating that this violates the right of the students, the KSU said the state government should create more awareness about the need for MR Vaccine and not to deprive the students of their rights.

The union demanded that the state government should immediately revoke the notification for the benefit of the students.

The FKJGP central body also condemned and opposed the move of the district administration even as the organisation asserted that the decision to administer the injection is upto the parents.
